Horseback riding safari in Northern Pakistan with camping: Fairy Meadow and Nanga Parbat Base Camp (June to end of Sept)

This tour is the shortest of our horseback riding tours in Pakistan. For this trip we’re going to a truly marvelous area: Fairy Meadows .. the name by itself already lets you dream away! We’ll also be going to Nanga Parbat and all this by horse! Once we’ve reached the area by car from Islamabad we’ll explore the region by horse and every night we’ll camp. We’ll take our time to make a campfire each night, followed by stargazing and storytelling. You’ll be in good hands with our local guide and will have the chance to get to know more about local Pakistani culture.

Fairy Meadows is located next to Nanga Parbat, the ninth tallest mountain in the world, known for the deep green fields and breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. The place was named by the Australian mountaineer Hermann Bhul in 1952 for its mesmerizing allure while he was here for his climbing expedition on the Nanga Parbat, also known as the Killer Mountain.

The National Park of Fairy Meadows is best visited between May and September. The main attraction here is the view of Nanga Parbat Mountain (8.126 m)  and trekking to the Base Camp. The area consists of green grasslands and alpine forest with juniper, birch trees. It is home to the endangered musk deer.

The Nanga Parbat was climbed by the Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl in 1953 after many failed attempts, killing 31 people before him, hence why it’s called Killer Mountain. It is home to one of the highest ice and rock walls in the world. As we only go to the base camp, you don’t need to be afraid of any technical climbing as this trek doesn’t require much mountain experience. It is important to be in good shape and to follow instructions from our experienced guides.
