For anyone who wants to discover the beautiful north of Pakistan and wants to throw in a little bit of adventure and excitement, we have a nice itinerary which includes fishing, camping and even horseback riding. It is the perfect formula to go back to basics.
Our adventure takes place in Gilgit-Baltistan, in the north of Pakistan, bordering China and Afghanistan. It is home to mighty mountain ranges such as the Karakoram, Hindukush and the Himalayas. People are drawn to the breathtaking views on the numerous mighty peaks, many of them exceeding 7.000 meters and even 8.000 meters. These snow-capped mountains are home to mighty glaciers, some of them are even among the longest in the world! In the valleys we find green grassland with goats, sheep, cows and yaks and large orchards where apricots, cherries and apple trees blossom during spring, covering the valleys with colors. The region is home to wild rivers with beautiful blue colors, meandering through the mountains and cutting through the massive rocks, often with dramatic cliffs as a result. You can easily combine this trip with a few days in Karimabad where you can discover the region and get to know the locals as Hunza is known for its warm, welcoming people.
Our trout fishing will mainly take place in two lakes: Phander Lake and Handarap Lake. Phandar Lake is a beautiful spot connected to the Ghizer River and located at 2.800 meters above sea level. There are large amounts of trout. Handarap Lake is also beautifully located and visited not only by people interested in fishing, but also by tourists.

Note that flights to Gilghit are sometimes canceled, in this case we’d have to go overland with overnight stay on the road. Don’t forget to add a day for your PCR-test if needed.
Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad airport and transfer to hotel
Day 2: Fly to Gilgit or drive to Chilas (hotel)
Day 3: Free day in Gilgit or drive to Gilgit from Chilas (hotel)
Day 4: Drive to Phander (hotel/camping)
Day 5: Fishing at Phander lake in the morning, then Golgamulli (camping)
Day 6: Horseback riding to Handrap Lake for trout fishing. (camping)
Day 7: Morning fishing and back Golgamulli by horse and drive to Phunder (camping/hotel)
Day 8: Drive to Gilgit, overnight at hotel
Day 9: Fly to Islamabad or drive to Besham
Day 10: Free day in Islamabad
Day 11: Departure from Islamabad
